Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) Different Types

Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) is a type of cable that is used for overhead power lines. It consists of one or more strands of aluminium wire wrapped around a core of steel wire. The steel wire provides extra strength and allows the cable to span longer distances and carry higher voltages. The aluminium wire reduces the weight and cost of the cable. ACSR cables can have different amounts of steel, depending on the application. The more steel, the stronger the cable, but also the heavier and more expensive.

ACSR cables are named after animals, to make it easier to identify them. Some of the common animal names are:

Squirrel: This cable has 6 aluminium wires and 1 steel wire, each with a diameter of 2.11 mm. It can carry a current of 109 Ampere.

Weasel: This cable has 6 aluminium wires and 1 steel wire, each with a diameter of 2.59 mm. It can carry a current of 134 Ampere.

Rabbit: This cable has 6 aluminium wires and 1 steel wire, each with a diameter of 3.35 mm. It can carry a current of 185 Ampere.

Racoon: This cable has 6 aluminium wires and 1 steel wire, each with a diameter of 4.09 mm. It can carry a current of 200 Ampere.

Dog: This cable has 6 aluminium wires and 7 steel wires, each with a diameter of 4.72 mm. It can carry a current of 278 Ampere.

Coyote: This cable has 26 aluminium wires and 7 steel wires, each with a diameter of 2.54 mm. It can carry a current of 311 Ampere.

Wolf: This cable has 30 aluminium wires and 7 steel wires, each with a diameter of 2.59 mm. It can carry a current of 355 Ampere.

Panther: This cable has 30 aluminium wires and 7 steel wires, each with a diameter of 2.79 mm. It can carry a current of 421 Ampere.

Moose: This cable has 54 aluminium wires and 7 steel wires, each with a diameter of 3.53 mm. It can carry a current of 763 Ampere.

Zebra: This cable has 54 aluminium wires and 7 steel wires, each with a diameter of 3.18 mm. It can carry a current of 737 Ampere.

These are some examples of ACSR cables named after animals. There are many more names that are used in different countries and standards.
