Operation:
Instant Geyser: Also known as tankless or demand-type water heaters, instant geysers heat water directly as it flows through the unit. When you turn on a hot water tap, the cold water passes through a heating element or a gas burner, rapidly heating it before it comes out of the faucet. Instant geysers do not store hot water; they provide hot water on-demand whenever needed.
Storage Geyser: Storage geysers, on the other hand, have a tank that stores a certain volume of hot water. The water inside the tank is heated and maintained at a set temperature, ready for use when you open a hot water tap. As you use hot water from the tank, it is replenished and reheated to maintain the desired temperature.
Size and Space:
Instant Geyser: They are generally smaller and more compact compared to storage geysers since they do not require a tank to store hot water. As a result, they are more suitable for homes or spaces with limited room.
Storage Geyser: Due to the presence of a water tank, storage geysers tend to be larger and may require more space for installation. They are commonly installed in basements, utility rooms, or places with ample space.
Energy Efficiency:
Instant Geyser: Instant geysers are often considered more energy-efficient than storage geysers because they only heat water when needed. There is no standby heat loss since there's no water stored in a tank that constantly needs to be kept hot.
Storage Geyser: Storage geysers may experience some standby heat loss, as the water in the tank is constantly being heated to maintain the set temperature. However, newer models may have better insulation to reduce this loss.
Hot Water Capacity:
Instant Geyser: Instant geysers can provide a continuous supply of hot water, but the flow rate may be limited. The rate of hot water flow depends on the power of the unit and the temperature of the incoming water.
Storage Geyser: Storage geysers offer a specific capacity of hot water based on the size of the tank. Once the stored hot water is depleted, you may need to wait for the tank to refill and reheat the water before more hot water becomes available.
The choice between an instant geyser and a storage geyser depends on your specific needs, available space, and hot water usage patterns. If you have limited space, require instant hot water, and prioritize energy efficiency, an instant geyser might be more suitable. On the other hand, if you have a higher demand for hot water and sufficient space, a storage geyser with a larger tank capacity could be a better option.
